Afterwards he calmly goes home to have dinner with his family and waits for the police to arrest him. The key to Steven's seemingly reprehensible behavior becomes apparent through a series of flashbacks to his childhood, when in 1963, he moved with his family from a bleak Canadian landscape to the fabled city of Los Angeles.

BLIND LOVE
by Aaron "Bud" Elkin
USA
Publisher: Orr Books & Beachfront Press
When Dave Lyons comes upon a near-fatal accident involving a girl that he believes is "out of his league," he has the opportunity to be her hero and to gain admission to the "popular crowd." Dave's newfound acceptance challenges his simple, humble and moral outlook on life and what the future holds. BLIND LOVE will keep teens' attention because it is told through the eyes of a young man who struggles to remain true to himself and his values. BLIND LOVE is a refreshingly honest depiction of the choices and issues High School students face today. Because the author is a retired teacher who listened to and cared about his students, BLIND LOVE brims with true-to-life anecdotes. BLIND LOVE has street credibility.

The Locket
by Chandra M. Garza
USA
Publisher: Xlibris
I could hear the sound of my heart pounding-a thousand horses running-fear rushing through my body scorching my veins with an unimaginable fire. How could I have missed this? How could I have been so blind? I felt the edge of the bed against my calves and I knew in that instant, I would never make it out alive.
Things always look brighter when you’re standing on the edge of something beautiful. True love is a gift that Stacy Garcia receives at the tender age of fourteen, that is when she meets Johnny Chandler. She accepts the gift of his heart and cherishes it for three solid years.
But when tragedy strikes, Stacy is left to face her now uncertain future without Johnny. She tries to find a way to push past her grief and get on with her life. But how do you move forward when half of your soul has died?
When Stacy finally starts to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart, she finds that not everything is what it seems. Facing new revelations, she discovers secrets that lay dormant for four years, using the last gift Johnny gave her, the locket. Now, she finds these new secrets are putting her on a path towards joining Johnny herself.

Bertha Fights Back
by Fran Lewis and Junior Author Dani Nicole Miller
Publisher: xlibris
Bertha, a thirteen old teenage girl, living the South Bronx, is having trouble dealing with everyday issues that children face in school and just growing up. Bertha is uncoordinated, not very pretty and has trouble doing any physical activities. Bertha has a sister named Tillie who is very pretty, very agile and has no problem making friends or doing all of the things that Bertha cannot do. They are total opposites. Tillie and many of Bertha’s cousins enjoy laughing at her when she tried to ice skate; take dancing lessons or even bowl. Bertha attempted to do all of these things but could not. However, she is smart, sassy and has a great sense of humor, which helps her to deal with these experiences and others.
Growing up can be difficult when you are over weight or not really good at sports or dancing. I hope you will learn from reading my book that you can be anything that you want to be and no one can stop you from reaching your goals and dreams. Not everyone is born athletic, beautiful, thin or a genius.
However, every one is smart or excellent in something whether it is drawing, jumping rope or even running track. Who you are as a person is what makes you special. I hope that you enjoy reading about Bertha and Tillie and learn that there is a little bit of Bertha in everyone.
