In the midst of a war, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Williams answers the call of adventure. With her father’s permission and blessing, Liz leaves home and travels to the RAF’s training camp in the South of England and begins training. She knows her childhood friend is training at the same camp and wonders deep down if she will see him.
Philip MacLeod is no stranger to adventure. He enrolls in the army as soon as the war breaks in Europe and until he can fly his own plane in the Royal Air Force. When he receives a letter from his mother letting him know Liz joined the war effort, he wonders why she invades his thoughts and dreams. He keeps his promise to his mother, and waits for Liz’s arrival.
Seeing each other again throws Philip completely off guard. He questions his feelings for her. And he desires her with every fiber of his body. He watches her train with the other female pilots and defends her whenever another soldier makes a hurtful remark.
Liz is in love with Philip. But no one will stop her from flying in the Royal Air Force’s woman squadron; not even her friend. They share a passionate kiss the first evening they spend alone since her arrival on the training base. She is left wanting him more kisses, and wonders about his true feelings.
