“The Voyage of Billy Buckins” is the story of Billy Buckins, a boy of twelve growing up in Charles Town (South Carolina) in the year 1754. During this era, the area was called the Carolina’s. Billy had always wanted to go to sea as his late father did and become a seaman. His mother did not desire this life for young Billy, because of the death of his father while away at sea but young Billy would not give up. This desire to go to sea leads to an adventure that Billy sometimes wishes he could return from. He is taken prisoner by pirates and meets all kinds of people who he never wished to meet. ” The Voyage of Billy Buckins” is a story of adventure and a must read for those who love adventure and the sea.
